Historical Figures

History is full of fascinating, tragic, and glorious people. Here are the stories of a few such individuals. Be aware that there are, of course, facts I'm leaving out, and this page cannot not serve as historical research (although I have done a respectable amount of my own research for this, if I do say so myself).

An illustrated
shoulders-up portrait in black ink on a yellow background. It depicts a Chinese woman
(Ching Shih) in pirate attire, holding a sword.

A Chinese woman recognized as the world's greatest pirate ever, so fierce and powerful she was called The Terror of South China.

Ching Shih

approx. 1785 - 1844
hand-drawn four-pointed sparkle

A Spanish fascist-hater known to the Allies as Agent GARBO; a WW2 agent who fed mountains of lies to the Nazis for almost 10 years; and possibly the greatest double-agent in history.

Juan Pujol Garcia

1912 - 1988
A
black-and-white photograph of a young Juan Pujol Garcia from the shoulders up. He wears a
            military uniform, presumably from WW2.
An illustration of
a well dressed lady (La Maupin) from the knees up, standing in a public square. She wears
an ornate dress and tall wig. The image is black ink on a greyish beige.

A legendary figure of 17th century France best known as La Maupin. Bisexual swordfighter, opera star, and arsonist.

Julie D'Aubigny

unknown - 1707

Not technically a historical figure, but my personal favorite Greek myth. Wife of Eros and goddess of the soul.

Myth of Psyche (COMING SOON)

Second century A.D.
A black-and-white
illustration of the goddess Psyche by Paul Alfred Curzon, cropped to be the knees and up.
She holds a wooden box and wears a filmy dress. Small butterfly wings are on her back.
